WORLD CUP OF COMEDY

CALLING ALL TRI-STATE COMICS: Do you have what it takes to win the Comedy World Cup? ⚽️

With 1.3M tourists flooding NJ for the World Cup this summer, we are throwing the biggest tournament in the scene: A World Cup-Style Round of 32 Comedy Showdown.

MATCH DYNAMICS

🔥 32 Comics. Head-to-head knockout rounds.

⏱️ 1-Minute Sets. You have 60 seconds to beat your opponent.

📣 The Judges. A pro comic panel gives feedback after each set, but the audience applause determines who advances.(Panel vote breaks any ties)

Tournament Structure

Four qualifier group shows will be held in Jersey City throughout June and early July.Two comics will advance from each group to the Finals Show on July 9th at 8PM inside the iconic, 300-seat JDW Theater at the Liberty Science Center.

QUALIFIER GROUP SHOW(S)

Eight comics enter each group show. After 2 rounds of sudden-death standup comedy matches, only two comics will advance to the Finals show.

FINALS SHOW

Eight qualifier winners face off in the Quarter-finals, whittling the competition down to four in the Semis and then two in the finals. Before the final, both runners-up will go head-to-head to determine 3rd place.

PRIZES

  • 1st $500 and a 6th Borough Comedy x LSC After-Dark residency which includes spots on all shows for the rest of 2026

  • 2nd $100 and a professional head shot package

  • 3rd $50 and a cannabis care package

  • More prizes TBA

  • Comics that make it out of the qualifier groups will enjoy a 4K tape of your set, access to the professional photo gallery and a catered green room at the Finals show on July 9th.

  • Group A Show: Tentative June 19th @ 9PM @ TBA location in Jersey City

  • Group B Show: Tentative June 20th @ 8PM @ TBA location in Jersey City

  • Group C Show: Tentative June 26th @ 9PM @ TBA location in Jersey City

  • Group D Show: Tentative June 27th @ 8PM @ TBA location in Jersey City

  • Finals Show: Scheduled July 9th @ 8PM at the Liberty Science Center - 222 Jersey City Boulevard

SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be available the final on July 9th and at least one group show.

  • $30 entry fee (goes to prize money and marketing)

  • Head shot

  • Bio

Discounted audience tickets will be available for comic’s friends and family. There is no requirement to bring anyone.

Entries are finalized on a first-come first-served basis.

Submissions will close after 32 comics complete their submissions.
