WORLD CUP OF COMEDY

CALLING ALL TRI-STATE COMICS: Do you have what it takes to win the Comedy World Cup? ⚽️

With 1.3M tourists flooding NJ for the World Cup this summer, we are throwing the biggest tournament in the scene: A World Cup-Style Round of 32 Comedy Showdown.

MATCH DYNAMICS

🔥 32 Comics. Head-to-head knockout rounds.

⏱️ 3-Minute Sets. You have 180 seconds to beat your opponent.

📣 The Referees. A pro comic panel gives feedback after each set, but the audience applause determines who advances.(Panel vote breaks any ties)

Tournament Structure

Four qualifier group shows will be held near Metlife, aka New York New Jersey Stadium, throughout June and early July.Two comics will advance from each group to the Finals Show on July 9th at 8PM inside the iconic, 300-seat JDW Theater at the Liberty Science Center.

QUALIFIER GROUP SHOW(S)

Eight comics enter each group show. After 2 rounds of sudden-death standup comedy matches, only two comics will advance to the Finals show.

FINALS SHOW

Eight qualifier winners face off in the Quarter-finals, whittling the competition down to four in the Semis and then two in the finals. Before the final, both runners-up will go head-to-head to determine 3rd place.

PRIZES

  • 1st $500 and a 6th Borough Comedy x LSC After-Dark residency which includes spots on all shows for the rest of 2026

  • 2nd $100 and a professional head shot package

  • 3rd $50 and a cannabis care package

  • More prizes TBA

  • Comics that make it out of the qualifier groups will enjoy a catered green room at the Finals show on July 9th.

  • Group A Show: Tentative June 12th @ 7PM @ TBA location near Metlife aka New York New Jersey Stadium

  • Group B Show: Tentative June 20th @ 6PM or 10PM | TBA location near Metlife aka New York New Jersey Stadium

  • Group C Show: Scheduled for June 26th @ 6PM | Porta JC - 135 Newark Ave, Jersey City

  • Group D Show: Scheduled for July 3rd @ 7PM | O’Hara’s Downtown - 172 1st St, Jersey City

  • Finals Show: Scheduled July 9th @ 8PM at the Liberty Science Center - 222 Jersey City Boulevard

SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be available for the final on July 9th and at least one group show.

  • 21+ (contact us for exceptions)

  • $25 entry fee (non-refundable)

  • Bio

Discounted audience tickets will be available for comics’ friends and family. There is no requirement to bring anyone.

Spots in the bracket are awarded on a first-come first-served basis.
